INKA TRAIL CHINCHERO TO URQUILLOS

Perfect for anyone with a short time-frame or who wants an easier trek, the Huchuy Qosco trek covers spectacular snow-capped mountains, green valleys, traditional food and culture with amazing inka architecture in only three days or even less. The Huchuy Qosco, meaning "Little Cusco" served as an inka palace, and is a little visited, but very interesting archealogical site.

We finish off this trek with a visit to Machu Picchu, and in just a few days you will have had a fulfilling experience of all the magic that the peruvian Andes can offer - while straying slightly off the beaten track.

Day 1 – Cusco – Tambomachay – Huchuy Qosqo

In the morning we drive to Tambomachay. Here our horses and horsemen will be waiting to carry our equipment. Once ready we start walking through an amazing landscape, ascending through a wide valley to Queullacocha Lake, where we have lunch. After crossing the 410om high mountain pass we continue to Pumamarca village where we will reach one of most beautiful inca trails. Along the way we will pass by many local farms, and the scenery really changes from the dry highlands to lush, green valleys. We arrive to to our campsite in Huchuyqosqo in the evening, we relax, have dinner and enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding snow-capped Apu's and archealogcal site.

Day 2 – Huchuy Qosqo - Aguas Calientes

After breakfast, we have plenty of time to explore Huchuy Qosqo the palace of the great Inka Viracocha. Your tour guide will teach you everything about the history of the inkas and this spectacular site. From Huchuy Qosqo we descend to the Sacred Valley. It takes around 2 hours until we reach Lamay on the Vilcanota River. Here we can sample real Peruvian food from a traditional "picanteria". Try the andean speciality "cuy al horno" - baked guinea pig. Trust us, it tastes better than it looks! After lunch we continue by car to Ollantaytanbo to catch the train to Aguas Calientes and spend the night in a warm bed.

Day 3 – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Ollantaytambo - Cusco

Today is the day! We will get up very early in the morning, have a light breakfast and wait for the bus to take us up to the main gate of Machu Picchu. The bus ride takes 25 minutes, and we will try to be first in line when the gates open at 6am. For around two hours, one of our passionate guides will show you around the city of Machu Picchu and talk about its fascinating history and significance. After the tour you have time to explore Machu Picchu at your own leisure before returning to Aguas Calientes by bus. From here you will take the train to Ollantaytambo where a bus to Cusco will be waiting for you.
