DAY 1: LIMA – CUSCO - WALKING TOUR

Cusco is a one hour flight away from Lima city. At Cusco airport you meet your tour guide and will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the morning is free to rest and let your body acclimatise to Cusco city which lies 3000 meters over sea level. On the afternoon we will do the walkng tour the complements the classical City Tour and covers the excellent InKa Museum, the bohemian neighborhood of San Blas, home of artisans, handcrafters and painters, and also visits San Pedro Market, thus getting an insight into the day-to-day life of the people in Cusco. Since all visits are located in the historical center of Cusco, the tour is usually walking, weather permitting.

DAY 2: CUSCO - CITY TOUR

​

In the morning we visit the most important ruins at Cusco city, first Sacsayhuaman ceremonial center built with impressive stone blocks, Q’enqo, ancient ceremonial and ritual center, Tambomachay and Pukapukara.

You have to buy an entrance ticket (BOLETO TURISTICO) for the city tour and sacred valley. 40 US dollars.

 DAY 3:  CUSCO - SACRED VALLEY

​

Full-day excursion to the sacred valley of the Inkas - here, the cities were built to ease the administration of the empire and you can find impressive remains of cultivating terraces, fortresses, palaces and cemeteries. The towns lie next to inka trails that follow the Vilcanota river to Machu Picchu. According to archeoastronomy the layout of the constructions in the Sacred Valley mirrors the constellations of the Milky Way. We will visit the ancient Inca city Pisaq and the colourful market of Pisac, then have lunch in Urubamba. We then continue to Ollantaytambo, a lovely town in its self, with picturesque narrow streets and channels of running water from the inka's time. We will spend the night in the Sacred Valley.

DAY 4: SACRED VALLEY – ABRA MALAGA – SANTA MARIA

 

We start the day with a mini-van trip to Abra Malaga – a 4200masl mountain pass outside of Cusco. Here begins our adventure! Put on safety gear and mount your bike before cruising down to 2000masl on hair pin turn roads. You feel the change of microclimate as the wind in your hair turns warmer as you descent, overlooking beautiful green mountains and valleys. When there are no more down hill roads, we hop in the van and go to Santa Maria, where lunch is waiting. After lunch we go white water rafting to top off an adrenaline filled day!

DAY 5: SANTA MARIA - SANTA TERESA

 

Today we hike for approximately six hours, with plenty of breaks and things to see along the way. We walk through lush high jungle, pass coffee plantations, fruit plantations and learn a little bit about the native produce and meet some local families and their exotic pets! The landscape is dramatic, the hills steap and the valleys low. A part of the hike is a genuine inka trail, and you will be amazed as you stroll on these perfect roads and steps, as how they managed to build this here as we decend towards the river below. We have lunch and keep walking alongside a riverbank until we reach. When we arrive to Santa Teresa it’s time to take a dip in the natural hot springs. We will be perfectly revived in time for dinner!

DAY 6: SANTA TERESA - AGUAS CALIENTES

 

After of our breakfast we will go to do the zip line which literally takes you back and forth from mountain to mountain. Soar upside down on the longest zip line that is almost 1km long! After flying around we continue by car to Hydroelectric for our lunch. We walk along railroad tracks below Machu Picchu and along a flowing river. We reach Aguas Calientes around 4:30p.m. We have a nice dinner before we go early to bed…tomorrow you will get up at 4:30am!

DAY 7:  AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – AGUAS CALIENTES – OLLYANTAYTAMBO - CUSCO

 

Today is the day you have been waiting for! We will get up very early in the morning, have a light breakfast and wait for the bus to take us up to the main gate of Machu Picchu. The bus ride takes 25 minutes and we will try to be first in line when the gates open at 6am. For around two hours, one of our passionate guides will show you around the city of Machu Picchu and talk about its fascinating history and cultural significance. After the tour you have time to explore Machu Picchu at your own leisure before returning to Aguas Calientes by bus. From here you will take the train to Ollantaytambo where a bus to Cusco will be waiting for you.

DAY 8: CONDOR’S ROUTE

We leave the city of Cusco very early in the morning, taking the route Cusco – Limatambo -- ancawasi and from this point we will access to the Pucara Mountain, 3900 masl. Once in  chonta 3400 m we will have  our delicious breakfast watching the snowy Salkantay mountain, then an hour walk along a trail to the viewpoint of Huaco, which is located on the right bank of the canyon Apurimac River and from this point we will have the opportunity to appreciate the stunning valley and canyon and the largest and most sacred bird of the Inkas in their natural state, finally the majestic flight that flew for a long time before us, that an adult can measure up to 3 meters long with outstretched wings (sacred bird of the Incas) and there is also opportunity to see many birds such as eagles, hawks and hopefully deer Whitetail – Cougar – Andean fox and vizcachas .After having witnessed the return of the condor activity by walking an hour to reach the chonta community, where we will enjoy our delicious typical lunch, after lunch return to  Cusco.

 DAY 9: MARAS-MORAY- SALINERAS

​

After breakfast we will pick you up around 9:00 AM and drive to Moray is about 1:20 mins exploring moray the inka agricultural greenhouse, it was a experimental place to study the adaptation of plants to new ecosystems  to continue to salineras ( salt mines) These are already exploited since inkas times as a means of economic exchange and securities. Return to the hotel in Cusco.

DAY 10: RAINBOW MOUNTAIN

​

We will pick you up in Cusco at 4:30AM. It is about a 3 hour drive in our private van during which we will pass through a few traditional villages and see some amazing views of the Andes. When we reach the trailhead for this hike, we will stop and enjoy a lovely breakfast freshly. After breakfast and packing some snacks to munch on the route, we will begin the hike from Chillca at 3700m/12139 ft elevation. From here it will be a 3 hour uphill hike to reach the famous Rainbow Mountains. Along the way you will enjoy amazing views of the Andes, glacial peaks, red mountains, rocky hills, and traditional llamas and alpacas grazing along the valley. As you reach the summit of the mountain you will be able to spot some Andean wildlife. After taking a few amazing pictures and soaking in the views we will begin our descent with a 2 hour downhill hike and enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch, we will start our return trip back to Cusco.

DAY 11: WALKING TOUR IN CUSCO CITY (DEPARTURE DAY)

 

Transfer from the hotel to Cusco’s airport to return to Lima and either catch your return flight home or spend a night in Lima.
