INKA JUNGLE TREK

The Inka Jungle trek is for anyone who craves a little adrenaline filled diversity to their treks. During this spectacular route to Machu Picchu we will be mixing hiking with a little down hill biking, feel the river splashing in our faces as we raft the Vilcanota river and zipline across deep, Andean valleys.

To mellow the experience a day is spent strolling through lush green hills, coffee plantations and on parts of a genuine inka trail, as you learn about the local history, agriculture and communities. There is also the opportunity to try the beneficial effects of natural hot springs. Last, but not least, we explore mystical Machu Picchu to finish off four days of great fun and variation!

Today we hike for approximately six hours, with plenty of breaks and things to see along the way. We walk through lush high jungle, pass coffee plantations, fruit plantations and learn a little bit about the native produce and meet some local families and their exotic pets! The landscape is dramatic, the hills steap and the valleys low. A part of the hike is a genuine inca trail, and you will be amazed as you stroll on these perfect roads and steps, as how they managed to build this here as we decend towards the river below. We have lunch and keep walking alongside a riverbank until we reach. When we arrive to Santa Teresa it’s time to take a dip in the natural hot springs. We will be perfectly revived in time for dinner!

Day 3 – Santa Teresa - Aguas Calientes

After of our breakfast we will go to do the zip line which literally takes you back and forth from mountain to mountain. Soar up side down on the longest zip line that is almost 1km long! For around two hours, one of our passionate guides will show you around the city of Machu Picchu and talk about its fascinating history and cultural significance. After the tour you have time to explore Machu Picchu at your own leisure before returning to Aguas Calientes by bus.
