Inka Power Peru designed this itinerary for individuals, groups or families who want to explore this amazing country in a unique and traditional way. We combine three different cities of Peru with archaeological remains and the opportunity to interact with local families.

DAY 1: LIMA - CUSCO - FREE DAY IN CUSCO
​

Cusco is a one hour flight away from Lima city. At Cusco airport you meet your tour guide and will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the morning is free to rest and let your body acclimatize to Cusco city which lies 3000 meters over sea level

 

You have to get your own plane tickets to Cusco. We recommend Latam, Avianca or Peruvian Airlines.

DAY 2: CUSCO - CITY TOUR

​

In the morning we visit the most important ruins at Cusco city, first Sacsayhuaman ceremonial center built with impressive stone blocks, Q’enqo, ancient ceremonial and ritual center, Tambomachay and Pukapukara.

You have to buy an entrance ticket (BOLETO TURISTICO) for the city tour and sacred valley. 40 US dollars.

DAY 3:  CUSCO - SACRED VALLEY

​

Full-day excursion to the sacred valley of the Inkas - here, the cities were built to ease the administration of the empire and you can find impressive remains of cultivating terraces, fortresses, palaces and cemeteries. The towns lie next to inka trails that follow the Vilcanota river to Machu Picchu. According to archeoastronomy the layout of the constructions in the Sacred Valley mirrors the constellations of the Milky Way. We will visit the ancient Inca city Pisaq and the colourful market of Pisac, then have lunch in Urubamba. We then continue to Ollantaytambo, a lovely town in itself, with picturesque narrow streets and channels of running water from the inka's time and Chinchero. We will spend the night in the Sacred Valley.

DAY 4:  INKA TRAIL  2 DAYS - WIÑAY WAYNA - MACHU PICCHU

​

Early in the morning (about 4 -5 am) we come to your hotel to transfer you to the Ollantaytambo train station, where we board the train. The train winds us through the mountains and cloud forests with breathtaking scenery until it stops in the jungle at Km 104, the starting point of our trek. After crossing the Urubamba river on a footbridge, we check in with park rangers at the control point, then continue our hike to the archaeological site of Chachabamba, with an elevation of 2150m. From here we ascend a hill for about 2 hours until we reach a beautiful secluded waterfall and in a few more minutes, will arrive at the fascinating archaeological site of Wiñaywayna 2650 m (8,694.23 ft). After we explore the ancient ruins. we continue to hike through the semitropical cloud forest area, until we cross over the mountain through Intipunku (The Sun Gate) to get our first glimpse of Machu Picchu. After a short hike down, we enjoy the afternoon before we descend by bus to Aguas Calientes for a comfortable night in our hotel.

DAY 5: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU– OLLYANTAYTAMBO - CUSCO


Today is the day you have been waiting for! We will get up very early in the morning, have a light breakfast and wait for the bus to take us up to the main gate of Machu Picchu. The bus ride takes 25 minutes and we will try to be first in line when the gates open at 6am. For around two hours, one of our passionate guides will show you around the city of Machu Picchu and talk about its fascinating history and cultural significance. After the tour you have time to explore Machu Picchu at your own leisure before returning to Aguas Calientes by bus. From here you will take the train to Ollantaytambo where a bus to Cusco will be waiting for you.

 DAY 6: MARAS-MORAY- SALINERAS

​

After breakfast we will pick you up around 9:00 AM and drive to Moray is about 1:20 mins exploring moray the inka agricultural greenhouse, it was a experimental place to study the adaptation of plants to new ecosystems to continue to salineras ( salt mines) These are already exploited since inkas times as a means of economic exchange and securities. Return to the hotel in Cusco.

DAY 7: CUSCO-PUNO

​

Depart Cusco by tourist bus for comfortable 7 hour trip on paved roads through the beautiful highlands to Puno, nestled on the edge of Lake Titicaca.  Stop along the way at San Pedro Colonial Church, Raqchi (alternatively, you may fly to Juliaca and then transfer to Puno) Reception and transfer to the hotel close to the famous Titicaca Lake.

DAY 8: LAKE TITICACA TOUR TO TAQUILE ISLAND

​

After breakfast, a private tour by boat to Taquile, an island inhabited since pre-Inka times, whose people have kept their traditional dress, native language (Quechua) and unique social and political organization. It must be noted that local people from Taquile are very skilled weavers; their art techniques and designs have been preserved since pre-Hispanic times and were recognized by UNESCO in 2005 as a cultural heritage of humanity. Local people will welcome us and guide the group to the houses where they will be staying (homestay), telling the most interesting stories and revealing some of the secrets kept of this magical island.

DAY 9: TAQUILE ISLAND TO PUNO
​

Early start to enjoy a spectacular sunrise and the peace and beauty of the island. Also, we will enjoy the company of the host family, who will open the doors of their homes for us, representing a unique experience that will give us the opportunity to learn more about the Andean culture and the everyday lives of the island inhabitants. They will prepare a “huatia”, which is a dish of native potatoes cooked with the heat of stones, as their ancestors did. They will also teach their skills as weavers and some simple techniques that we could learn. In the afternoon we will return by boat to the hotel in Puno.

DAY 10: PUNO TO LIMA
 

Transfer from the hotel to the airport at Juliaca to return to Lima and either catch your return flight home or spend a night in Lima.
